»Just curious, what would you have the lifeguards paid if you could? I mean, they are employees of the government (because the pools are public), right? So what you're suggesting is that somewhere else the budget is cut or that the taxes are heightened. »I voted no because although I like the idea of being able to grab something quick to eat, it is never cheap and it is mostly full of processed non-foods. If they honestly had fruits and vegetables, and didn't charge 200% or more for them, then I would consider changing my vote to yes.
»I think it's a neat idea as long as it doesn't become to "carnival-like". It may be a good idea to just keep more festivals coming to certian areas (especially downtown, let's talk more about that!) or parks and having great, healthy vendors there.
»Let's start with smooth roads, emptied trash cans, clean & working restrooms and trimmed weeds first. Then ask if the free market would want to try doing business in the public's parks. That way it could be accomplished without any additional cost to taxpayers or gouging/palm greasing from city personnel. Food choices would be best defined by the consumers in this manner also.

»I agree with Dusty. I just finished producing New Jersey's Safe Routes to School Website and we made sure to provide all info on the webpage itself and then have optional pdf downloads elsewhere.
»The lack of transit in the study have little to do with cyclists and more to do with the fact that Metro transit authority is not a city agency and so not well integrated into planning. Metro is planning to do it's own regional planning study soon, in addition to an alternatives analysis and these will align with the TMP. I hope we can move beyond this "us vs. them" framing to encourage/frame the discussion around connectivity among all of these systems--this is the only way we're going to be able to move beyond an auto-centric culture and system.
