Expand Bus Service to Airport

Omaha Metro Transit presently operates its #16 bus route from Downtown to the North Omaha Transit Center via Eppley Airport. However, the #16 route only operates during rush hours on weekdays, so it is of little use to both airline passengers and airport employees. Service needs to be expanded to 5 am to 11 pm seven days a week to be a useful alternative to driving. Another alternative is to expand the #11 bus route to the Airport. It presently operates 7 days a week passing through Downtown with most runs terminating at the west end of the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge. However, the #11 only operates on 90-minute headways on Sundays, not very convenient for airline passengers. Bus service can be implemented quickly once funding is secured. A rail (tram) option would be much more costly and take years to implement.
